1) ARE YOU PREPARED FOR THIS DISASTER?
The majority of us rely on our computers for just about everything. My partners and I operate all web based businesses, that actually show a profit each year (surprise! surprise!), so needless to say our livelihoods depend on our computers and our web servers. Take it one step further, and you will realize that our families also depend on our computers, as their lives are directly affected by our ability to operate our online businesses.
Just think of everything you keep stored up in your computer.
*email (possibly years worth of email)
*contact information (personal/business) I have approximately 500 contacts in my Outlook program.
*schedules
*task lists
*reports
*plans
*accounting data
*banking information
*client data
*web site projects
This list goes on and on. Now ask yourself this question:
If I lost all of this information today due to a hard drive failure, theft, fire, tornado, flood, etc., what would happen to my business, to me, and to my family? Are you prepared for this disaster?
Answer this question honestly.
If you are prepared for this worst case scenario, congratulations! You can stop reading here, and skip down to the next article. Go ahead, you've earned it. 8-)
If you are not prepared, then read on.
I don't know about you, but Murphy's Law applies to me. Whatever can go wrong, will. Knowing this, it only makes sense to back up all of my DATA on my computers and web servers. When was the last time you backed up your data?
If you don't have a back up drive such as an Iomega Ditto Drive that will back up EVERYTHING on your computer (programs and data), that's okay. You should still back up all of your data files. You can always reinstall programs, but without all your data files, where will you be? For example, I use Microsoft Money 98. If my computer was stolen, I could reinstall Microsoft Money 98 on my new computer AND use my back up data files with all of my checking account information. Without the back up data files, the program itself is useless to me.
Hint: In your C drive, create a file folder called DATA ONLY. In this DATA ONLY folder, create folders for the programs you use. Within these subfolders, place all the data files you use. In other words, when you use a program, save your work to the appropriate DATA ONLY file folder.
EXAMPLE:
C:
DATA ONLY (folder)
microsoft money (folder)
mymoney.datafile
quickbooks pro (folder)
quickbooks pro.datafile
microsoft word (folder)
word.datafiles
microsoft excel (folder)
excel.datafiles
Each day, back up the DATA ONLY folder and all of the contents on an external disk. I suggest that you use a zip drive, super disk, or any 100+MB storage media. This way you only have to deal with one or two disks. Store the back up disks in safe place, and should Murphy's Law apply to you, you will be prepared.
Remember, you can always reinstall the programs with the installation disks or cd roms you used to install the programs on your computer in the first place. So don't worry about backing up the programs. Programs take up a lot of space and backing them up will take a lot of time. Just remember, when it comes down to it... it's all about the data files.
Block out one hour of your time today and make this happen. If you don't take action and protect yourself today, tomorrow you may wish you had taken my advice.

4) WHY ARE WE ALL DOING THIS? - DOES MLM REALLY WORK?

We are ALL in this for the same reason. We want to make money.
MLM or Network Marketing programs are moving to the Internet very quickly. The question of the moment is does it work - can I make money in MLM?
I have always known that there was tremendous potential in the MLM idea. All you have to do is look at the numbers in the different matrices that are being used. The potential is staggering.
The problem was, before the Internet, you had to spend a lot of time contacting people and trying to get them excited about the program that you were involved with. That just isn't my cup of tea. There were lots of folks making money at it, but you had to be a certain kind of individual to be good at it.
Now with the Internet, and all the automated methods of marketing that it gives us, we can get on the MLM bandwagon without having to do all the stuff that most of us dislike.
There are already several MLM programs on the web, and there will surely be more in the near future. The potential to make lots of money is really good.
I got involved with three (which will remain nameless) at about the same time. I will share my initial experience with these, and then maybe we will begin to get an answer to our ever so important question (can I make any money?).
First though, the whole idea behind MLM and why it can work if setup and managed correctly.
You have a downline of people under you. For a certain number of levels (different with each MLM plan), you get a commission for everything purchased by people in your downline. The key for a truly successful MLM plan is for everyone to be buying a fair amount of the product on a regular basis.
In the beginning, this is what causes folks to shy away. They see that they are going to have to obligate to spend money every month. The great thing is, with a good program, once you get 9 or 10 people in your downline, your commission from their purchases covers the cost of your purchases. From that point on, you start making a profit. These profits can get pretty large. The amount of money you can be making each month almost scares some folks.
Now lets get to my experience in the beginning with the three different MLM programs that I got involved with. Two of the programs did not force you to purchase any product. This is great for getting a large downline. I had 40 people in my downline in one of them in practically no time. The problem with this was, nobody was buying anything. I don't care if you have 4000 in your downline, if nobody buys anything, you don't make any money.
The third program on the other hand, requires you to start out purchasing around $75 per month of their products. Again, this amount of money tends to scare some folks off. If you are willing to put a little work into this, you can have your 9 or 10 people that you need within the first two months. From then on, you just keep building your downline, and watch your income GROW.
This is what you might call one of those once in a lifetime situations where MLM is truly just getting started on the web. If you find a program with quality products that get used up and need to be replaced every month, then you can certainly use the marketing techniques that the Internet offers to build a very profitable business with an income that repeats month after month.
In an MLM program that works, you will also find uplines helping their downline setup their business and get their marketing program in place and working. Most programs offer you a free web page similar to one you would get in a traditional Internet affiliate program. The key to MLM is to help your downline, because when they make money, you make money.
And after all, why are we ALL doing this?
Because we want to make money!
